Family Dentistry, also known as General Dentistry, refers to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions affecting your teeth and gums.

Providing quality care to your whole family is the core mission of our office. Whether you chipped a tooth over the weekend or you decide you want whiter teeth, we are here to provide you with the best family dentistry possible.

Family Dentistry Why Is It Important?

Teeth Cleanings

Routine checkups and cleanings will greatly reduce the risk of periodontal disease. There is a direct link between healthy gums and a healthy heart. And if you are pregnant, it is even more important to have regular teeth cleanings. Remember, your mouth is the gateway to your body.

Without having regular teeth cleanings, you may develop periodontal disease. This is a destruction of your gums and bone. When your body loses bone, there is no way to re-grow it.

Children’s Dentistry

The sooner your child starts seeing a dentist, the less anxious they will be as they get older. We provide free dental exams to kids below two years of age. This is done to get them introduced to a dental office and they realize that visiting a dentist can be fun. And let them watch cartoons and they pick out something from the treasure chest when they are done! Check out how great this two-year old did at her FIRST DENTAL VISIT.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer is one of the fastest growing cancers in America, especially among NON-smokers. We use a Velscope® Laser to provide oral cancer screenings regularly for patients. The earlier a malignancy is diagnosed, the more successful the treatment.

Invisible Fillings

Gone are the days when tooth decay was fixed with black and silver fillings. We now have the technology to restore teeth with tooth colored porcelain or resin. In addition to looking natural, they are very bio-compatible with our bodies since they do not contain any mercury or metals. Click here to learn more about “invisible fillings”.

TMJ

TMJ pain can have multiple causes. Some of the most common are teeth clenching, teeth grinding, hormonal changes, neurological conditions, and even diet. TMJ pain is one of the most debilitating and least understood health conditions. However, if you clench or grind your teeth we can perform non-surgical therapy which can greatly reduce the pain, which can help you lead a more normal and productive life. A night guard is a simple appliance you wear at night which can give you a much better night’s sleep. In addition, we can prescribe some muscle relaxants which can temporarily reduce TMJ pain.
